A horrific incident of a man strangled his wife to death with a sari on April 1 at Vaddigudem under Dammapet mandal in the district came to light on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Challa Mounika (27).
According to Aswaraopet Circle Inspector of Police Balakrishna, Challa Nagendra Babu married Mounik, who came from Ramanagaram under Kallur mandal, 12 years ago. They had a happy married life till Mounika gave birth to a girl child.
Nagendra Babu, the police said, started subjecting her to cruelty as she failed to give birth to a male child. Narendra Babu had also several illicit relationships. He also harassed her for additional dowry.
The police said that Nagendra Babu conspired to get rid of his wife and resorted to murdering her. He strangled his wife to death with a sari when she was in deep sleep. He tried to portray the death as cardiac arrest
