Minister for Civil Supplies Nadendla Manohar assured of adopting farmer centric paddy procurement from ensuing Kharif 2024-25.
The Minister held a meeting with the organizations of farmers here on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, Nadendla Manohar assured of taking steps to minimize the farmers’ visit to Paddy Procurement Centres.
He said that the required number of gunny bags would be provided to the farmers and transportation facilities would also be arranged to shift their paddy produce to procurement centres.
The Minister said that transportation of paddy to farmer preferred and nearest Rice Mills would be provided while more tenant farmers would be encouraged to sell their paddy produce.
Nadendla Manohar said: “Difficulties of the farmers during paddy procurement will be minimized to the possible extent. Bio-Metric based procurement systems will be implemented and steps will be taken to track the paddy transportation vehicles through GPS devices.”
Hence every transport vehicle shall mandatorily carry GPS device, he said adding that payment delay of MSP to the farmers reduced noticeably when compared to previous seasons. The Minister asked the farmers to cultivate consumer preferred varieties of paddy. The farmers were also asked to dry their paddy produce and clean after harvesting the crop to get MSP.
