ML Putta Mahesh Kumar appealed to South Central Railway General Manager Arun Kumar Jain to provide more facilities in Eluru and Nuzvid railway stations and provide a halt to three super fast express trains.
South Central Railway held a meeting with Members of Parliament belonging to Vijayawada, Guntur and Guntakal divisional jurisdiction in Vijayawada on Friday.
Two Union Ministers of State and 15 MPs representing the state of Andhra Pradesh took part in the meeting. Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR, Narendra A. Patil, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division, M. Ramakrishna, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntur, M Vijaya Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal, Lokesh Vishnoi, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad, Principal Heads of the Departments of SCR and other senior Railway officials attended the meeting.
Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar speaking on the occasion, urged the SCR GM to provide halts to Kakinada-Jodhpur express, Kakinada-Bhavnagar express and Yashvantpur superfast express in Eluru railway station. The MP also urged the SCR GM to provide a halt to Gowthami express in Nuzvid railway station.
The MP explained the necessity of constructing a passenger waiting hall, general waiting hall, deputy station superintendent’s room, waiting lounge, 4 passenger sheds on platform-1, construction of 4 passenger sheds on platform-2, construction of approach roads to all platforms and construction of toilets in Nuzvid railway station. The MP also brought to the notice of SCR GM the provision of lift facility and 24×7 ticket counter on platform 2.
Eluru MP Mahesh Kumar underlined the need of increasing general and sleeper berths in trains. Keeping in view the benefits to the peasantry and the industrial sector, it was requested to speed up the construction of the new broad gauge railway line between Kovvur-Bhadrachalam road.
South Central Railway General Manager Arun Kumar Jain stated that deliberations of the meeting would immensely help the Railways in finalizing the Railway developmental plans for the people of this region. The suggestions and views expressed by the MPs would be given due consideration while formulating the proposals for new works / services, the SCR GM added.
