Freemasons of Telangana are organising a Walkathon- “Masons Against Drug Abuse” in the city on Sunday. The half-kilometer walk will begin from GPO, Abids to Mozamjahi Market, aiming to highlight brotherhood among society members and promote societal values.
Freemasonry is a global organization present in many countries. In India, it has a history of 294 years, and globally it is 307 years old.
According to Freemasons, nearly 100 members, along with their spouses and family members, will participate. The run will be flagged off by Assistant Regional Grand Masters Anil Desai, P. Veerabhadrudu, Manchala Ramesh, Dr. Srirang Abkari, and P. Raj Narsing Rao.
Freemasons will carry placards with messages to raise awareness against drug abuse.
The walk is organized on the eve of Universal Brotherhood Day (UBD), observed globally by Freemasons on 24th June each year. UBD commemorates the formation of the Grand Lodge of England in 1717, marking 306 years of Freemasonry in its current form. It serves to promote the fundamental principles of Freemasonry.
