Mass ‘upanayanam’ prog conducted

A mass Upanayanam programme for Brahmin boys was organised at Gayathri Kalyana Mandapam in Satyanarayanapuram with great pomp under the auspices of Sri Gayatri Society on Monday. The programme was held in the presence of Brahmashree Kappagantu Subbarama Somayajulu Gara, Vedic scholars and religious scholars conducted a grand programme amidst chanting of mantras. At 10.30 am, Mrigasira Nakshatra Yuktha Meshalgnam, 22 people performed Yagnopaveetha dharana and concluded the Upanayana.
State Planning Board Vice-President, Central MLA Malladi Vishnu was the chief guest for the programme and bestowed divine blessings on the students. On this occasion, Malladi Vishnu said that the services rendered by the Gayatri Society for more than a decade for the upliftment of the Brahmin community are commendable.
