Mayor asks officials to prepare baby ponds

GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi on Friday directed the officials to prepare baby ponds in lakes for Ganesh immersion with all facilities.
She inspected the arrangements of ponds at Kukatpally zone for Ganesh festival in the city along with the corporators.  The Mayor inspected Hazmatpet lake, baby pond, Pragati Nagar lake, IDL Lake, Lingam pond, Kotha Cheruvu, Vennela Gadda Cheruvu and arrangements of for Ganesh immersion.
Speaking on the occasion, she directed the authorities to complete all the arrangements within a week so that all the facilities are provided without any inconvenience to the devotees. Safety measures should be taken to prevent untoward incidents at the ponds and suitable arrangements should be made for parking of vehicles. Barricades should be set up around the baby ponds. Sanitation management should be done properly, she added. She expressed anger over the Ramky Agency for not removing the water hyacinth from the ponds. It was made clear to the authorities that steps should be taken to remove such waste immediately. She expressed anger over the absence of police and electricity department officials from inspecting the arrangements for immersion of Ganesh idols.
