City Mayor Gadwal Viajayalakshmi on Saturday met Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at his Jubilee Hills residence and discussed holding long-delayed GHMC general body meeting.
GHMC general body meeting is held once in every three months to facilitate 150 elected corporators to raise the issues. But the meeting could not be held because of the model code of conduct in view of the Assembly elections, she said.
She submitted to the Chief Minister that the elections to the 15 member apex body too
were held on schedule as the model code of conduct came into force ahead of the
Assembly polls.
The Mayor requested the Chief Minister to ensure that the matter are sorted out to
facilitate introduction of budget before the model code of conduct coming into force
ahead of Lok Sabha elections. The GHMC general body meeting which was to have been held in August could not be held. GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose is also waiting for government instructions.
She requested the CM to direct the GHMC Commissioner to hold the general body meeting to pave the way for the introduction of the most important GHMC budget in the State capital.
“If the Parliament Election Code comes, the passing of the budget will be delayed further”,
she pointed out. To respond to those issues, Revanth Reddy has ordered GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose to take action.
The Mayor said that she had met the Chief Minister only to discuss civic issues only. No
political discussion took place during the meeting, she asserted. She made it clear that she
would remain as BRS activist and strive for the party under the leadership of K Chandrashekar Rao.
