Minister for Prohibition and Excise V Srinivas Goud on Monday appealed to the medical graduates to offer their services selflessly to the poor in rural areas. “Every student who pursued MBBS in Mahabubnagar Government Medical College should reach out to the needy patients in rural areas,” he said.
Participating in the second convocation of the college here, the Minister said, “The doctors are considered next to the god. It means that the doctors should provide quality healthcare to everyone, particularly the poor in rural areas.” He advised the graduates to pursue higher studies. He vowed to provide opportunities for students to pursue super-speciality medical courses in Mahabubnagar.
Medical colleges were established in the district only after the formation of Telangana State. Mahabubnagar Medical College was the first medical college that was established after the formation of Telangana State, he said and added that he was able to ensure that a nursing college too was established.
The super-speciality hospital, which is being constructed with an investment of Rs 500 crore, would be completed soon.
He further said that he would develop Mahabubnagar as a centre for medical tourism. He also assured the people that he would strive to see that the metro service is extended up to Mahabubnagar. The State government proposed to extend the services up to Shadnagar, he said. The government would sanction Rs 1 crore in one week for the Indian Medical Association Bhavan in Mahabubnagaare. He asked the medical college authorities to submit a proposal for the construction of an auditorium.
