Minister for Social Welfare Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy launched the distribution of free sand at Chatukapadu village in Jarugumalli mandal in Kondapi constituency on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that as per the aspirations of the people, the State Government is implementing many schemes and today it launched the free distribution of sand.
The Minister clarified that 16,044 Metric Tonnes of sand are stocked at the Chilakapadu 1 stock point, 24,972 Metric Tonnes of sand are stocked at the Chatukapadu 2 stock point and 1,818 Metric Tonnes of sand are stocked at the Ongole stock point
The Minister stated that including the transport charges, seigniorage charge and GST, one tonne of sand is supplied at Rs 247. There is no need to pay any money, especially for sand, he made it clear.
“Digital payment mode is being implemented for the payment in the sand distribution. Permission has been given to transport sand from 6 am to 6 pm only. One person can take a maximum of 20 tonnes of sand per day,” the Minister stated.
“If the sand available in the stock points runs out, steps will be taken to bring sand from the nearby rivers and make it available to the consumers,” Minister Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy explained.
The free sand policy would give a fillip to the construction sector and help to generate jobs, he hoped. The government is committed to making sand available to the common men, who require sand to construct their houses, he claimed.
The Minister highlighted that the Chandrababu Naidu-headed government has made a free sand policy within one month of forming the new government. Joint Collector R Gopal Krishna, Mines Department DD B Jagannatha Rao and RDO GV Subba Reddy were among those who were present.
