Minister for Roads and Buildings Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy has directed the officials to repair the roads damaged by heavy rains and floods under the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department immediately.
On the instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, a review meeting was held on Monday with the top officials of the R&B Department in the Minister’s Chamber of the Telangana Secretariat.
On this occasion, the Minister made it clear to the officials that the public transport facility should not be hindered under any circumstances.
The Minister said that KCR took a revolutionary decision in the restructuring of the R&B Department by giving the authority of administrative permissions even to the field-level officer.
According to that, special funds were made available from Deputy Engineer to that higher level officer. An officer of this level has also been given the flexibility to take a decision for immediate road repair according to the local conditions. He said that steps have been taken to utilize DE Rs 2 lakhs, EE Rs 25 lakhs, SE Rs 50 lakhs, CE Rs 1 crore and ENC 20 crores for immediate repairs of roads. The Minister suggested that the authorities should take advantage of it at the field level and ensure that people are not inconvenienced.
The officials were ordered to complete the repairs of the roads damaged due to heavy rains on a war footing.
