The Minister for Housing and Information & Public Relations (I&PR), Kolusu Parthasarathy, visited the survivor of the sexual assault incident in Pallerlamudi and her family members at the Old Government General Hospital in Vijayawada on Tuesday. He expressed concern and stated that society does not accept such acts. He assured the victim’s family that the government will ensure the accused is punished, and support the victim’s family.
The girl, hailing from Pallerlamudi village of Nuzvid Rural mandal in Eluru district, has been undergoing treatment at the Old Government Hospital in Vijayawada. The Minister spoke to the doctors about her health condition.
Speaking to the media, Parthasarathy said that society should condemn such incidents. The police have arrested the accused in the rape attempt of a girl at Rentachintala, he said. He added that the accused will be booked under POCSO Act and stringent action will be taken against him.
Further, he stated that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha promptly reacted to the incident and gave specific instructions to the Police Department about the arrest of the accused. The State government has provided immediate financial support to the victim’s family after discussing the matter with the officials concerned, he explained.
Meanwhile, the Minister inspected the sanitation maintenance on the premises of the Old GGH. He directed the officials to take measures to build trust among the people in government hospitals. Old GGH Superintendent Dr Venkateswara Rao, Deputy Superintendent Dr Vinay, RMO Dr Sobha, Dr Himabindu and others accompanied Minister Parthasarathy.
