Minister directs officials to strengthen SS tank bund

Minister for Municipal Administration Audimulapu Suresh inspected the Nadigadda SS irrigation tank along with the officials on Tuesday and directed the officials concerned to take steps to strengthen the embankment of the tank.

The Nadigadda SS tank located in Yerragondapalem provides drinking water to 15 villages. The embankment of the tank was breached during the floods.

He inquired about the water impounded in the tank. The minister directed the officials to remove all the trees and weeds around the tank. The embankment of the tank, wherever it is weak, should be strengthened, he told the official. The tank is spread over 47 acres of land, he said, and asked the officials to reduce the release of water from the tank till the works are completed.

“A high-level committee will be set up to inquire about the development of breaches to the embankment of the tank. If the officials’ indifference is found, appropriate action will be taken against the officials concerned,” the minister said. Markapuram sub-collector Sethu Madhavan, Tahasildar Kiran, and PP Kotla Subba Reddy were among those who accompanied the minister.

Later Minister Audimulapu Suresh paid rich tributes to Dr B R Ambedkar on his 67th death anniversary at Ambedkar colony at Tripurantakam village. He garlanded the portrait of Ambedkar. Speaking on the occasion, he described Ambedkar as a great man of India and a visionary.
