Minister for Transport and Backward Classes Ponnam Prabhakar made a surprise visit to the Minority Girls Gurukul School in Husnabad. After the government increased the diet charges by 40 per cent, the Minister enquired about the common diet being served in the hostels. The students expressed their gratitude to the government, stating that the increase in diet charges ensured the provision of quality food. They praised the common diet, which they felt offered good nourishment. The Minister had lunch with the students and instructed the staff to ensure there were no issues with the menu. He also advised regular health check-ups for the students and asked the staff to look after them like their parents, as many had left their families to study far away.
The Minister suggested upgrading the school from an intermediate level to a degree level for minority girls. Several issues faced by the students were brought to his attention. Immediately, the Special Secretary of the Minority Welfare Department, Tafseer Iqbal, and the Chief Minister’s Secretary interacted with the students. The Minister also praised the girls who had recently excelled in the Chief Minister Cup, recognising their talents in sports and science innovation. He announced that NCC, NSS, Red Cross, and similar organizations would be introduced in all Gurukula schools.
He shared success stories from the lives of people who had achieved their goals and explained how students could utilise their intelligence to succeed. The minister emphasised that the government prioritises education. Upon forming the government, the government had already initiated teacher appointments, promotions, and transfers, and provided basic facilities in all schools. He mentioned that after a decade, the government had increased diet charges to provide quality food to students.
As many students’ parents come from agricultural backgrounds, the Minister also informed them that the government had raised the Rythu Bharosa (investment support scheme) from Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000, and announced an annual Rs 12,000 for landless agricultural labourers. Additionally, new ration cards would be issued. The students expressed their happiness about the government support provided to their parents.
Siddipet Library Organisation Chairman Lingamurthi, Single Window Chairman Shivayya, Revenue Divisional Officer, Mandal Revenue Officer, and other officials accompanied the Miniter.
