Minister promises all help to develop libraries in dist

Minister for Prohibition and Excise V Srinivas Goud has said that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, in new state of Telangana, developed libraries and provide all amenities. The libraries are developed as ‘temples of learning.’

Participating as chief guest at the 55th National Library Week celebrations held at Mettuguda District Library here on Monday, he noted that the libraries are abuzz with the students preparing for the competitive examinations in the wake of the recruitment drive embarked on by the State government on a large scale to fill vacancies in various government departments.

The Minister directed the local library employees to visit the City Central Library at Chikkadapally in Hyderabad to study the online coaching facilities provided there and strive to replicate the same here.

A huge hall would be built in the existing library here and a digital library would be set up in it, he said. In all six libraries have been built in the district and basic amenities provided in them at a cost of Rs 3 crore. Books needed by students preparing for the competitive examinations and internet facility are provided in the library, he added. Municipal chairman K C Narsimhulu, Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha Chairman Rajeshwar Goud and others were present on the occasion.
