Minister for Water Resources Ambati Rambabu has released water to the Krishna eastern and western deltas through the Krishna eastern main canal at Prakasam Barrage ahead of the Kharif season. The public representatives and officials performed pujas to River Krisha and offered flowers, fruits, turmeric, saffron, saree and released a thousand cusecs of water on Wednesday. There is a possibility to increase the quantity of water further depending on the demand.
On the occasion, Minister Ambati Rambabu said that water had been released to the canals of Krishna and Guntur districts. He said that earlier, they used to release it by the end of June or the first week of July. But, as per the instructions given by CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, water was released in the first week of June. He said that due to the early commencement of Kharif, three crops are likely to be grown. He added that the farmer did not face any problem even from the natural calamities.
The minister said that at present, there was 34 TMC water in Pulichintala, and water was being supplied to the farmers from there. There would be no need to bring water from Pattiseema this year. He said that 34 TMS water was enough, which was in Pulichintala. After the YSRCP government led by Jagan Mohan Reddy took the reins, there was no shortage of water. It had been proved that there would be abundant rains during the regime of Jagan. If there were problems due to excess rains, they would take action. He said that a retaining wall had been constructed from the flood waters entering the colonies and to ensure safety of the people.
Minister Jogi Ramesh said that water was released a month early for the benefit of farmers. He said that God was merciful during Jagan Mohan Reddy’s rule and the reservoirs were filled with the blessings of Rain God (Varuna). Farmers had cultivated and produced good yield. During the YCP regime, the works were done at lightning speed. They were giving water to the Krishna delta without any shortage.
He said that they got the approval of the Central Cabinet for the revised cost of Polavaram project and they were able to bring funds of Rs12,900 crore from the Centre. The Polavaram works were progressing fast.
