Minister for Agriculture Kakani Govardhan Reddy has said that all steps were being taken to avoid loss of life and property due to the Mandous cyclonic storm.

The minister reviewed the precautionary measures being taken in the district with district Collector KVN Chakdradhar Babu and CH Vijaya Rao here on Friday.

The minister said that educational institutions declared holidays on Saturday and Sunday. The fishermen were warned to venture into the sea for fishing.

The minister directed the officials to take up crop register programmes on a war footing. He also directed the officials to release water from the Somashila and Kandaleru reservois gradually to avoid inundation.

Steps should be taken to replace the uprooted electric polls. The minister ordered the officials to keep ready generators, electric hacksaw machines and other machinery as a precautionary measure. He said that a toll-free 1077 was set to provide information regarding the Mondous storm.
