Minister for Water Resources, Dr Nimmala Ramanaidu, has strongly criticised former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, calling him a “destructive force” and terming it the “parody of the century” for Jagan to speak about destruction. Addressing a press conference at his camp office in Vijayawada on Friday, Ramanaidu expressed his anger over Jagan’s remarks on the administration of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
The Minister said that the people of Andhra Pradesh, having witnessed Jagan’s rule over the past five years, now believe that any future government characterised by poor governance would be referred to as “Jagan rule.”
He further stated that Jagan’s five-year tenure had caused panic not just in other states of India but even globally. He accused the former Chief Minister of stalling development projects, particularly the Polavaram project, under the guise of “reverse tendering,” which led to financial losses. He lamented that due to Jagan’s negligence, the project’s very existence has been questioned. He further claimed that Jagan’s mismanagement had resulted in an additional expenditure of Rs 1,000 crore for the construction of the diaphragm wall.
Ramanaidu emphasised that Jagan’s administration had inflicted severe damage on the state. He accused Jagan of misleading the people by claiming that Rs 600 crore was saved through reverse tendering, while in reality, it had plunged the Polavaram project into crisis and burdened the state with a financial liability running into hundreds of crores. He pointed out that not just the irrigation sector, but all sectors of development suffered setbacks under Jagan’s rule, with crucial projects being stalled instead of progressing.
The Minister also criticised Jagan for worsening the state’s financial condition, bypassing established systems, and creating chaos in the lives of the people of Andhra Pradesh. He asserted that the Telugu people would not forgive Jagan for his failures.
Ramanaidu questioned Jagan’s leadership, asking why, despite his efforts to project himself as a significant leader, the people had not supported him.
He advised Jagan to introspect on his political defeat, analyse the reasons behind it, and learn lessons from his failure.
The Minister further stated that the alliance between Narendra Modi, Chandrababu Naidu, and Pawan Kalyan had been highly successful, with the people of Andhra Pradesh delivering a resounding mandate in support of the coalition.
