MLAs’ poaching case Stumbling block for BJP, BRS tie-up?

In what looks like the sins of the past coming back to haunt the present, the move for an alliance between the BRS and the BJP seems to have hit a stalemate due to the Moinabad farmhouse case.
During KCR’s rule, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the BRS MLA poaching case summoned BJP General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santhosh. Highly placed sources indicated that this didn’t go down well with the RSS.
Santosh is an RSS pracharak-turned-BJP key figure. “There was anger over the way KCR attacked the BJP and BL Santhosh. It didn’t go down well with the RSS and they are opposed to the alliance,” the sources said. “Some of the BJP’s top state and national leaders were interested in an alliance with the BRS. There were discussions, but the farmhouse case is back to haunt the BRS,” the sources said.
Many leaders hope that the BRS could win a few LS seats although a “Modi wave” is believed to be sweeping the country.
Ramachandra Bharati alias Satish Sharma, Simhayaji and Anand Nandakumar were arrested by the Cyberabad Police from a farmhouse in Moinabad near Hyderabad on the night of October 26, 2022, when they were allegedly trying to lure four BRS MLAs with offers of money.
The Cyberabad Police conducted the raid after a tip-off by BRS MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy who alleged that the accused had offered Rs 100 crore to him and Rs 50 crore each to three others.
KCR had called a press conference on November 3, 2022, where he showed videos which he claimed backed up the BRS charges of poaching against the BJP.
Later, responding on the issue, in December 2022, Santosh said that those who dragged his name into the scandal would have to pay a heavy price.
“Those who levelled charges against me should answer now. They have to face the consequences. The current TS government and leaders are harmful to democracy. No one knows about me but they have made my name known to every household in the State,” he said.
