Mock drill organised at Simhachalam rly station

A real-time relief and rescue operation, mock drill, was organised by the Waltair Division at Simhachalam Railway Station Yard on Friday, under the direct monitoring of Divisional Railway Manager Anup Satpathy.

The mock drill was conducted with the relief operations on a real time basis under the guidance of Praveen Bhati, Senior Divisional Safety Officer. Two coaches of 06410 special derailed at the Simhachalam yard and rescue operations were carried out.

During the inspection, DRM Anup Satpathy checked the alertness of the staff and preparedness of various departments in this section. Various departments viz., Mechanical, Carriage & Wagon, Operations, Commercial, Medical, Security, Signal & Telecom, Civil Engineering, Traction Distribution, Electrical and Personnel etc. instantaneously rose to the situation for rescuing the passengers in the affected coaches, carrying relief operations and ultimately restoring the normalcy of the track for swift movement of traffic.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team led by Team Commander Probin Phukhan, fire brigade led by Assistant District Fire Officer V.Subba Rao and the Civil Administration took part in the drill. ADRM (Operations) Manoj Kumar Sahoo and other branch officers also took part in the mock drill.

Speaking on the occasion, the DRM said that this mock drill was an exercise to check preparedness of the railway personnel to meet the eventualities and for rescuing the passengers with simultaneous relief operations. This drill also enables to develop communication skills as well as coordination among various departments. He praised the support of the local administration and media for the extensive support in making the drill a success.
