Mohanlal wraps Hridayapoorvam shoot, celebrates Thudarum’s Rs 100 crore Kerala triumph

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has officially wrapped up the shooting of his upcoming family drama Hridayapoorvam. The actor took to Instagram to share the news with fans, posting two images from the film’s final day on set. One picture featured the entire cast and crew standing together with a “Pack Up” sign in the background, while the other was a close-up of the clapboard showing the film’s title along with the words “Pack Up.” Mohanlal captioned the post, “That’s a wrap! See you on the big screen. #Hridayapoorvam.”

Directed by veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad, the film is based on a story written by his son Akhil Sathyan. The cast includes Malavika Mohanan, Sangita Madhavan Nair, Sangeeth Prathap, Siddique, Sabitha Anand, Baburaj, Nishan, Lalu Alex, Janardhanan, and S. P. Charan. The announcement of this collaboration between Mohanlal and Anthikad, their first since 2015’s Ennum Eppozhum, was first made in January 2024. The film went on floors in February 2025, with shooting locations spread across Kochi and Pune. Hridayapoorvam is scheduled for a theatrical release on August 28.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal is celebrating the massive success of his latest release Thudarum, which has broken records by grossing Rs 100 crore solely in Kerala. Sharing the milestone with fans, he posted a poster on social media that read, “A new chapter in Kerala box office history. A 100 crore Kerala gross.” He added, “#Thudarum storms into the record books with its first 100 crore mark exclusively at the Kerala box office! A milestone that we created together! Thank you, Kerala.”

Taking to his X timeline, the actor expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the film’s reception. “I’m deeply moved and truly humbled by the love and heartfelt response for Thudarum. Each message and every word of appreciation has touched me in ways I can’t fully express,” he wrote. “Thank you for opening your hearts to this story, for seeing its soul, and for embracing it with such grace. This gratitude is not mine alone. It belongs to every single person who walked this journey with me, giving their love, effort, and spirit to every frame.”

He also took a moment to thank his team: “To Renjith M, Tharun Moorthy, KR Sunil, Shobhana, Binu Pappu, Prakash Varma, Shaji Kumar, Jakes Bejoy and our extraordinary team — your artistry and passion made Thudarum what it is.” Concluding his message with deep emotion, he said, “To see it resonate so deeply is more than a reward. It is a true blessing. With all my heart, thank you. With love and gratitude always.”
