In a notable event, Shadnagar MLA Veerlapalli Shankar emphasised the importance of poetess Molla’s independent spirit and simple yet impactful vocabulary. Molla, who wrote Ramayana in Telugu using straightforward language, served as an inspiration for all.
The occasion marked the unveiling of a statue of poetess Molla in Shadnagar by MLA Shankar. Leaders Nadikooda Jayantat Rao, Dayanand and Kummari Srisailam and Youth Congress leader Raikal Srinivas were among the prominent participants.
Shankar, while addressing the gathering, highlighted the significance of Molla’s contributions to Telugu literature. Known as ‘Molla Ramayana,’ her version of the Ramayana stands out for its simplicity and beauty. Born in a potter’s family in the 16th century during the time of Sri Krishnadevaraya, Molla, whose real name is Mollamamba, holds a special place in Telugu literary history. Shankar lauded her for making complex stories accessible to everyone through her unique writing style.
The MLA also praised the crucial role of potters in society, urging people to imagine a world without their contributions. During the event, under the auspices of the Shadnagar Kummari Sangam, 301 Bonams were presented to the deity Pochamma as part of the Ashada month celebrations. Youth leader Raikal Srinivas mentioned that the first bonam was presented to Goddess Pochamma, with MLA Shankar personally lifting the bonam.
The event saw the participation of several notable leaders, including State President Nadikooda Jayantat Rao, General Secretary Dayanand, Local Presidents Srisailam, General Secretary Raikal Srinivas, Local Congress leaders Mohammed Ali Khan Babar, former Municipal Chairman Anganur Vishwam, Block Congress President Balraj Goud, Lingareddygudem Ashok, and Kummari Association leaders Penjarla Ramesh, Srisailam, Sailu Anjaiah, Brahmaiah, Venkatesh, Krishna Vityala, and others.
