Move to digitise public health data hailed

National Health Authority Executive Director (IT) V Kiran Gopal has hailed the Andhra Pradesh State government’s initiative to digitise the public health data. Speaking to the representatives of IMA and private hospitals, who participated in the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission Orientation and face-to-face programme organised at Dr YSR Health University in Vijayawada on Friday, Kiran Gopal said that Andhra Pradesh stood at the top in the country in issuing Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) health cards with the initiative of AP Medical and Health Department. Private hospitals should participate in the ABHA registration process. He said that the participation of private health providers was very important.

Medical and Health secretary and APSACS PD, GS Naveen Kumar said that after AP State secured the top place, issuing ABHA health cards had increased the responsibility. He said that presently, when the country was moving towards the digital age, the medical and health sector was also taking a stride. If digital information was available as expected, it would be possible to conduct research in any field. He opined that an effective medical system was being established through Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.

He reminded that the State government has launched the ‘Family Physician’ system to provide better medical services to the people. He said that by collecting and digitising the information related to the health condition of the people, it would be possible to provide proper medical treatment when they visit the health centres. The government would give support to encourage IMA to participate in ABHA and a workshop would be organised under the auspices of IMA, he added. Dr YSR UHS VC Dr Shyam Prasad, Dr Koti Reddy and others were present.
