With major infrastructure projects underway, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) has emphasized the urgent need for alternative routes to ease congestion and ensure smooth truck movement into Autonagar. The upcoming flyover from Mahanadu Road to Nidamanuru and the first phase of the metro corridor from Gannavaram are expected to intensify traffic issues in the city.
On Saturday, MP Sivanath, accompanied by MLA Gadde Rammohan and CRDA Commissioner Kannababu, conducted a field inspection of key routes around Autonagar. The team reviewed roads such as Ballem Vari Veedhi, Mahanadu Road, Shakti Kalyana Mandapam Road, and Ghantasala Road to assess their viability for truck access. They also evaluated the connectivity from Ramavarappadu to Kesarpalli via SLV Grand as a potential alternative route to Gannavaram.
Addressing the media, MP Sivanath underscored the need for developing these routes to safeguard the livelihoods of nearly one lakh workers in the 305-acre Autonagar industrial hub. He stressed that the metro and flyover projects should not obstruct truck movement or impact the economic well-being of the workers.
He pointed out that if the proposed road development linking Ballem Vari Veedhi to Nidamanuru is completed, trucks from Machilipatnam, Eluru, and Kolkata will have easier access to Autonagar. He also called for expedited completion of Mahanadu Road to enhance traffic flow in the region.
MLA Gadde Rammohan highlighted the state government’s commitment to large-scale infrastructure projects catering to Vijayawada’s growing needs. He emphasized the importance of strategic planning and collaborative efforts to ensure seamless road development. CRDA Commissioner Kannababu assured that road expansion and alternative route development would be executed with a future-focused approach, ensuring minimal disruption to the public and Autonagar workers.
The inspection team also included CRDA Additional Commissioner Sunitha, CRDA Chief Engineer Dhananjaya, former Autonagar Association President S Durga Prasad, corporator M Prasad, senior TDP leaders Gullapalli Narayana Rao and Danekula Elabandala Rao, along with other officials and dignitaries.
