Former deputy prime minister and freedom fighter late Babu Jagjivan Ram’s biopic film titled “Babuji” is under way by a Telugu film director Dileep Raja and interestingly the movie is under filming in various locations of Andhra Pradesh.
He said that he is filming the life of Babuji who has millions of fans across the country for the first time. He pointed out that there were biopic movies on other political leaders and freedom fighters and he is making a biopic of Jagjivan Ram for the first time and this is the first of its kind in India. The director said that Jagjivan Ram’s biopic shows many events that are unknown to the people of the country. He has been filming the biography of the former Deputy Prime Minister of India late Babu Jagjivan Ram with the title “Babuji” presently in the Tenali area of Andhra.
He said that everyone knows that Jagajivan Ram set a world record as a senior parliamentarian. He said that only a few people know about the fact that he was a freedom fighter who spent two terms in prison during the British period as a follower of Gandhiji. He explained that the battle scenes would be the highlight of the film.
The director said that Gandhiji, Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, Patel and Bhagat Singh have roles in this movie. He said that Babuji’s disagreement with the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on the issue of implementing an emergency in the country is proof of Babuji’s political maturity.
At that time, Jagajivan Ram’s native village of Chandwa in Bihar, where there was no electricity, roads or buildings, was being shot on special sets for realism in the surroundings of Tenali. He announced that the Babuji film will be released on July 6 in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam languages on Jagjivan Ram’s birth anniversary. Regarding actors, Dileep Raja mentioned that Jagjivan Ram is played by ex-serviceman Military Prasad, senior actress Talluri Rameshwari as Jagjivan’s daughter Mirakumar and Uttar Pradesh’s Aamir Chaudhary as Lal Bahadur Shastri.
He added that  Jagjivan Ram’s daughter and former Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Meera Kumar, and her son, AICC spokesperson Anshul Avijit, watched the film’s shooting.
