Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said that those unaware of the ‘Margadarsi–Bangaru Kutumbam’ initiative were making baseless comments, and questioned whether such individuals had ever contributed to improving even a single family’s life.
Participating in the ‘Margadarsi–Bangaru Kutumbam’ programme after paying rich tributes to Dr B R Ambedkar on his birth anniversary, the Chief Minister criticised the previous government, stating that rather than developing the State, it had caused immense damage. “Does politics mean speaking blatant lies?” he asked.
Naidu interacted with the families chosen under the ‘Bangaru Kutumbam’ scheme and felicitated the ‘Margadarsis’ who had adopted these families. He promised to prepare an action plan to improve the income levels of all residents of Ponnekallu and announced that 11 individuals had come forward to adopt 369 poor families in the village.
Questioning how those who do not adhere to any traditions while visiting the holy town of Tirumala can speak about divinity, the Chief Minister recalled that in the past, false claims were made that a non-existent pink diamond was kept in his house, which helped certain people gain power. “When I filed a Rs 100 crore defamation case, they withdrew it after coming to power, admitting that no such diamond existed,” he said.
Naidu also alleged that the murder of Y S Vivekananda Reddy was falsely attributed to him and those who sought justice were subjected to various forms of harassment. “Even the witnesses in the case are being eliminated—six of them have already died,” he said. He noted that while it is easy to narrate stories, it is far more challenging to guide the poor towards progress, which, he said, amounts to creating history.
Referring to the ‘Janmabhoomi’ programme launched prior to 2004 for rural development, the CM said that noted Tollywood personalities such as Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Dasari Narayana Rao had composed the song ‘Janmabhoomi Pilustondi Raa’, which had inspired many NRIs to build school structures in their native villages.
“My life’s mission is to eliminate poverty and remove economic inequalities,” Mr Naidu said, expressing confidence in achieving his goal.
He remarked that few can understand his mindset, but those who do will realise My life’s missuit is for a better future. Reflecting on past elections, he said that had the TDP won in 2004 and 2019, the State would have progressed immensely. He urged the people to expose the conspiracies of those working against the State’s interests, warning that failing to do so would be a loss to society.
