“My mission is to transform villages,” declared Minister for Prohibition and Excise V Srinivas Goud on Tuesday, while laying the foundation stone for developmental works to be taken up with an investment of Rs 70 lakh at Pothanpally village in the district.
The Minister earlier threw the cement concrete road open to traffic. He also inaugurated a new primary school built with an investment of Rs 31 lakh under the Mana Ooru Mana Badi programme. He declared open the Yadav Community Hall and Mudiraj Community Hall, besides the marriage hall.
Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Goud observed that the Bharat Rashstra Samithi (BRS) government increased the pensions from Rs 200 to Rs 2,000 and ensured drinking water to every household under Mission Bhagiratha. Apart from them, the government has been providing input subsidy, and insurance cover for farmers’ families, Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak.
Most importantly, the Minister said that the government has built an IT Tower to help the local people secure jobs in Mahabubnagar.
In the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, the Congress government used pensions worth Rs 60,000 in Pothanpally village. Now in the new State of Telangana, pensions worth a little over Rs 1.34 lakh were provided to the eligible people, he said. The government spent over Rs 7.61 crore towards disbursing pensions in the village so far. A total of 62 benefited under Kalayan Lakshmi, Rs 6 crore was given to 791 farmers under the Rythhu Bandhu scheme and Rs 1.31 crore to the family members of farmers under the Rythu Bhima scheme. In addition to them, KCR Kits and other benefits were provided to the people, he said.
