The 100th birth anniversary of legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao was celebrated on September 20. At that time, ANR’s son and actor Nagarjuna announced that this year’s prestigious ANR would be conferred to Megastar Chiranjeevi in recognition of his contribution to Indian cinema. The award ceremony will be held on October 28, and the family wanted to make it a memorable event, to be attended by a host of celebrities from the film industry.
At the same time, Nagarjuna said that legendary Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan has accepted to attend this event as the chief guest, giving away the ANR award to Chiranjeevi.
On this occasion, actor Nagarjuna met Chiranjeevi and formally invited him for the ANR Award ceremony. While Akkineni Nageswara Rao was the first Telugu star to receive Padma Vibhushan, Chiranjeevi was recently honoured with Padma Vibhushan. “This year is extra special as we celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of my father, ANR garu! Honoured to invite Amitabh Bachchan ji and Megastar Chiranjeevi garu to the ANR Awards 2024 to mark this milestone! Let’s make this award function unforgettable!” said Nagarjuna on his social media. The ANR award has previously been bestowed upon iconic personalities such as Devanand, Shabana Azmi, Vyjayantimala Bali, Anjali Devi, Lata Mangeshkar, K. Balachander, Hema Malini, Shyam Benegal and Amitabh Bachchan.
