Naidu pursuing ‘anti-people’ policies: Kakani

Must read

Former Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy has launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, accusing him of failing to address the promises made before the elections in his Independence Day speech. Reddy asserted that Naidu has become the “brand ambassador” of anti-people policies in the country.
Speaking to the media in Nellore on Thursday, Reddy aimed Naidu’s comments on terrorism and authoritarianism, likening them to “a thief calling others thieves.”
Reddy criticized Naidu for prioritizing real estate interests in the development of Amaravati, accusing the Chief Minister of being driven by greed rather than the welfare of the people. He challenged Naidu to substantiate his claims that the state’s debt had ballooned to Rs 14 lakh crore. He also accused TDP leaders of engaging in widespread illegal sand mining since the election results, alleging that 40 lakh tonnes of sand had disappeared from stockyards.
Reddy condemned Naidu’s display of a chariot on Independence Day in connection with the “Thalliki Vandanam” scheme, pointing out that the scheme has not been implemented this year. He further criticized Naidu for failing to address election promises in his speech, instead hinting at a preference for “Red Book” governance. According to Reddy, Naidu accomplished little during his 14 years as Chief Minister and harassed 16 senior IPS officers, an act he described as the peak of unethical governance.
Reddy also questioned the re-opening of Anna Canteens, criticizing the decision to paint them yellow. He accused the government of discontinuing welfare schemes while boasting about serving simple meals like “dal rice” to the poor, questioning why the program relies on donations instead of government funds.
He also aimed actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan, accusing him of displaying ignorance in his Independence Day speech by incorrectly attributing incidents, including the 2017 Sugali Preeti case and a recent case involving a Muchumarri girl, to the previous YS Jagan Mohan Reddy administration, despite these occurring after the coalition government came to power.
