Naidu sets 15% growth target

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has urged the TDP-led NDA government to achieve economic growth through new policies in various departments. He instructed officials to aim for a growth rate of 15 per cent. A review meeting was held in the Secretariat to discuss the growth in agriculture, allied sectors, industry, and services.
While chairing the meeting, the Chief Minister noted that most sectors have been struggling due to the damaging policies of the previous government, which led to a complete economic collapse.
After officials detailed the conditions of their departments over the past 10 years, Chandrababu emphasized that the State Government is now introducing new policies and that officials must work hard to achieve economic progress through these initiatives.
The Chief Minister highlighted that officials should not only focus on improving people’s living conditions and the State’s economy but also ensure that there is no extra burden on citizens. He believes that farming expenses can be significantly reduced by implementing comprehensive mechanisation.
He added that the government’s primary responsibility is not just to provide welfare measures but also to boost people’s income by strengthening various sectors. Chandrababu pointed out that the State achieved a growth rate of 13.7 percent from 2014 to 2019, despite facing challenges after the bifurcation. However, he lamented that the growth rate has since dropped to 10.59 percent due to the backward decisions made by the YSRCP after taking power.
In 2019, the growth rate difference between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh was only 0.20 per cent, but it has now increased to 1.5 per cent by 2024. The Chief Minister also mentioned that per capita income was 13.21 per cent during the TDP regime but fell to 9.06 per cent under the previous government, which has negatively affected people’s living conditions.
Chandrababu urged officials from all departments to recognise that Andhra Pradesh ranks fifth in the South in per capita income and set clear targets by creating a vision for improvement. He noted that some sectors are lagging and must become more active.
He informed the officials that the P-4 system will be implemented in January, encouraging financially successful individuals to help uplift at least 10 per cent of the population. He urged the wealthy and organisations to act as mentors, alongside the welfare schemes of the State government, to enhance the living conditions of the poor.
