The Narsapur Assembly segment under Medak Lok Sabha constituency is ahead of other Assembly segments in achieving a record polling of 84.25 per cent on Monday last. The Assembly segment ranked number one in Telangana as far as voting percentage is concerned.
This is attributed to sensitisation of voters by officials, civil society organisations. The enthusiasm of voters showed no signs of waning since the last Assembly elections held in November 2023. During the Assembly elections the constituency achieved second rank at the state level by achieving 88.10 per cent voter turnout.
In 2018 Assembly elections, the Narsapur Assembly constituency recorded 90.53 poll per cent, ranking number three in the State.
The Assembly segment during the last Lok Sabha elections recorded a poll percentage of 77.29.
Because of sweltering heat, the officials apprehended that the voting percentage will go down. As the temperature cooled towards the end of the evening, everyone heaved a sigh of relief.
All over the constituency, the voters were seen standing in front of the polling booths since morning. The first time voters took part in the democratic process with enthusiasm and also female voters.
As part of the SVEEP programme, government officials and civil society organisations have created voter awareness in all towns and villages. The awareness programmes helped improve the voting percentage.
Since there are many villages in the Assembly segment, the rural voters made a beeline to the polling booths to exercise their franchise. Those who migrated to other areas in search of work returned to their native places and exercised their right to vote.
