Navy Armament Depot project under reconsideration: MP

Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar announced that the proposed Navy Armament Depot project in Buttayagudem and Jeelugumilli mandals, estimated at Rs 2,000 crore, is under reconsideration.
Highlighting the project’s potential to generate thousands of jobs and spur regional development, the MP expressed initial support for the initiative. However, he stated that the establishment process is being reevaluated to honour the sentiments of local communities and opinions from various stakeholders.
“The project promises significant benefits, but the concerns of residents will be given utmost priority,” Mahesh Kumar assured, emphasising that the final decision will balance development goals with public interest.
