Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture, Cooperative, Marketing, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Fisheries, K. Atchannaidu, has announced the implementation of a new Tenant Act, set to replace the 2019 legislation with the previous 2016 Act. This move aims to enhance support for tenant farmers (Koulu Rythulu) by integrating them into Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) and facilitating access to crop loans.
During a review meeting with the Andhra Pradesh State Cooperative Bank Limited (APCOB) on Saturday, Minister Atchannaidu emphasised the NDA government’s commitment to revitalising the cooperative sector and improving agricultural support. The new Act is designed to address the challenges tenant farmers have faced under the previous administration’s regulations, particularly concerning the issuance of agricultural cards.
To ensure transparency and efficiency, the government will implement an e-KYC system for tenant farmers and work to avoid past mistakes. Minister Atchannaidu called for enhanced services from APCOB officials and urged them to extend their support to farmers effectively.
Special Chief Secretary B. Rajasekhar, APCOB MD R.S. Reddy, Chairman A. Babu, and other officials were present at the meeting.
