NDSA report on Kaleshwaram sent for immediate action

The Telangana government has formally circulated the final report of the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) on the Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages of the Kaleshwaram Project to top irrigation officials, directing them to study it thoroughly and submit proposals to safeguard the structural integrity of the barrages.

In an official communication issued by the Irrigation and CAD (Projects-IV) Department, Principal Secretary Rahul Bojja informed that the report, received from the Chief Secretary’s office on April 26, was forwarded to all concerned engineers on April 30. The NDSA’s final report, along with an executive summary, was sent to the Engineer-in-Chief (General), Engineer-in-Chief (O&M), Chief Engineer (I) Ramagundam, Chief Engineer of Central Designs Organisation and Chief Engineer (Quality Control).

The government has instructed the officials to take note of the key findings and recommendations detailed in the report. They have been asked to examine the report closely and submit proposals to take necessary remedial measures to protect the barrages and safeguard the lives and livelihoods of dependent communities.

“Proposals to ensure structural stability and public safety should be submitted to the government through the Engineer-in-Chief (General),” the order stated, underscoring the urgency and significance of the report.

The communication, which includes the executive summary and the full NDSA report as annexures, has been officially acknowledged by all designated engineers through their respective official emails.
