Need to defeat ‘autocratic and regressive forces’ stressed

Minister for Agriculture S Niranjan Reddy on Tuesday stressed the need to defeat the “autocratic and regressive forces.” “The outcome of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 Lok Sabha elections will decide the future of the country,” he pointed out, while speaking at the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) constituency delegates’ meeting here.

“Are we moving towards a better society or regressing? This question needs to be resolved. A win for progress forces in the next elections will propel the country forward,” he said. The progress of the country came to a grinding halt for the last nine years under the BJP rule, he observed. The BRS would win the election in the State for the third time, he asserted.

Niranjan Reddy said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, at a public meeting at Aurangabad in Maharashtra, promised to ensure that every household in the State is provided drinking water. In sharp contrast, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the BJP would scrap reservations for Muslims in Telangana if his party came to power. While KCR laid stress on progressive measures, Amit Shah said was the most reactionary idea, the Minister said.

Niranjan Reddy came down heavily on the BJP leaders for mounting a smear campaign against the Telangana government. The BRS would seek votes from people based on the government’s performance and the progress of the State, apart from welfare schemes launched for the benefit of the poor, he said.

BRS district unit president Gattu Yadav, Zilla Grandhalaya Samsta chairman Lakshmaiah, Rythu Bandhu Samith president Jagadeswar Reddy, Market Committee chairman P Ramesh Goud, Municipal Chairman V Sridhar and others were present.
