The Minister was visiting Sardarhi Nagar in the 46th division of the city. He laid the foundation for stormwater drain construction. It is estimated to cost Rs 1 crore. It has been funded by the Telangana Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Nageswara Rao expressed his appreciation for the people’s representatives and government officials making all efforts to serve the people.
He mentioned that following the floods in Munneru and nearby lakes, he requested the Chief Minister to appoint an expert committee to design the retaining wall and to plan how floodwaters would flow. He assured people that the government would take measures for effective flood control.
The minister emphasised that the design of the drainage systems currently under construction should be robust, ensuring that they do not lead to problems in the future.

He advised local corporators to persuade the poor to ensure better rehabilitation and complete drainage construction before the onset of monsoon.
He called for special attention to sanitation in the city, advising residents to segregate wet and dry waste before handing it over to municipal staff and not to throw waste into drains.
