On World Blood Donation Day, Shadnagar witnessed a significant a good number of people donating blood. A blood donation camp was inaugurated by Shadnagar MLA Veerlapalli Shankar.
The event highlighted the importance of blood donation in saving lives. It was attended by notable dignitaries including District Medical Officer Dr B Venkateswara Rao and District Deputy Medical Officer Dr Vijayalakshmi.
MLA Shankar emphasised that blood donation is the greatest form of humanity as it has the potential to save lives. “By donating blood every three months, individuals can provide critical support to those in life-threatening situations,” he stated, underscoring the role of regular donors as “life donors.”
Dr Venkateswara Rao provided guidelines for prospective donors, noting that eligible blood donors should be between 18 to 55 years old and weigh at least 50 kg. He highlighted the life-saving impact of blood donation and encouraged eligible individuals to contribute.
Senior Congress leaders Babar Khan, Raghu and Balraj Goud were present at the event. Additionally, key Health officials including District DLO Dr Aruna, District Immunisation Officer Swarnakumari, and District In-charge AO Mass Media Officer K Srinivasulu were in attendance. Shadnagar Government Hospital Superintendent Srinivas Reddy, Blood Bank Incharge Dr. Madhavi, Health Educator J. Srinivasulu, J. Srihari, and medical staff members Uday, Anwar, Y Arun, Sampath, Mallesh, and Ghaus, along with staff nurses and ANMs, also participated in the programme.
