Nehru Zoological Park celebrates World Elephant Day

On this occasion, a special feast made up of Ragishaw decorated with sweet corn, pineapple, Guava, Carrots, Kheera, sprouts, soya beans, peepal leaves, banana leaves, sugar canes and bamboo, etc were prepared in the shape of cakes of approximate weight of 4 kg each and served to all the four elephants, Vijay (Male), Vanaja (Female), Asha (Female) and Sita (Female), apart from their daily feed.

Prashanth Bajirao Patil, Curator of the Nehru Zoological Park, and A Nagamani, Deputy Curator, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, along with animal keepers were present on the occasion.

Drawing, essay writing, story writing and elocution competitions were also conducted for the school students of Class 5 at different schools and 95 students, including Zoo visiting individuals, participated in the competitions.

Prashanth Bajirao Patil and A Nagamani distributed the prizes to the winners.

Speaking on the occasion Prashanth Bajirao Patil, Curator, said that Nehru Zoological Park is at the forefront in spreading wildlife awareness among the citizens in the form of eco-days celebrations.
