The meeting of the Council of Ministers of the State, chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, approved key decisions including the Bill to amend the law to remove the disqualification clause to contest local body elections if there are more than two children, and decided to ban the Maoists for another year in Andhra Pradesh. It was also approved to remove former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s photos on the survey stones, and to distribute Pattadar pass books with QR code with the AP Government logo. Speaking to the media after the cabinet meeting, I&PR Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy said that registrations for lands under Section 22A will be suspended for three months and pass books with QR code will be issued. The new liquor policy will be implemented in the State from October 1. He said that the government will provide quality liquor at a low price. The cabinet discussed what should be done with the survey stones with Jagan’s photo and name. There was another discussion on the issue of decreasing fertility rate in AP, the Minister said. He said that the cabinet has decided to remove the disqualification rule in local body elections if there are more than two children.
The cabinet approved the amendment Bill to remove this provision. Several ministers suggested that Jagan’s photo and name should be removed from the survey stones. The ministers said that the then CM had spent Rs 700 crore due to his crazy thoughts. The cabinet has decided to ban Maoists for another one year. There was a discussion on the liquor policies undertaken by the YSRCP government and TDP in the past. Changes and additions were also discussed in the excise policy without any irregularities. Parthasarathy said that the cabinet has decided to cancel GO 217, which is unfavourable to fishermen. Minister Parthasarathy said that the cabinet decided to remove Jagan’s photo and name on the survey stones.
