New Secretariat attracts visitors, turns selfie spot

Must read

The Telangana secretariat which is all set for inauguration on Sunday has turned into a selfie spot.

Despite criticism about the secretariat by the opposition, people seem to be welcoming the city’s new building. From the young to the old there is no shortage of selfie-takers and those striking a pose with the new secretariat in the background. Reels and pictures on this are being posted extensively on Instagram.

A.Rama Krishna, a senior citizen said, “Earlier, Indians used to take pictures at the White House and send it to us. Now, I am taking a picture of the secretariat and sending it to my son who is in the US calling it the White House of Hyderabad.”

Youngsters are trying their luck in getting a panorama picture. It is interesting to note that hardly anyone used to click pictures at the old secretariat.

A.Naresh Kumar said, “I am trying to get a panoramic view covering the secretariat, the Martyrs Memorial and the 125-feet Dr BR Ambedkar statue. This place has truly changed. There was a problem while navigating as the road is not the same, but this is going to look like an elite place where big people sit.”

It may be mentioned here that the TS tourism department is planning to organise a group of guides to talk about Dr Ambedkar, the Secretariat and the Martyrs’ Memorial to popularise them.

Spontaneous photographers are likely to be available at tourist spots and they charge Rs 50 for a quick photo. Around 10 to 15 guides may be deployed.
