Actor Ronit Agrawal is slowly making his way into the glamour world. After proving his skills in a couple of short films, he made his foray into the OTT world with Disney+Hotstar’s shows like The Loop, Vaidya, and Two Answers. Moreover, he has to his credit two music videos — Vande Mataram and Nazar.

Currently, he is shooting for the film What a Kismat with Atul Kulkarni and Tiku Talsania. Speaking with The Pioneer, about his character in What a Kismat, the actor said, “I play a young inspector assigned to complete a particular job by commissioner Tiku Talsania. The motive of this young cop named Santokh Singh is to fulfil his dream by completing the first encounter of his life. He is sometimes funny, always intelligent, and most corrupt.”

Hoping the audience would enjoy this character, Ronit went on to explain more about his acting debut. He said, “The debut is yet to happen. I have been constantly auditioning for parts inside and out, and I have been fortunate enough to get opportunities. For this, I would like to thank the makers and the directors for believing in me.”

As he took us through some wonderful memories he experienced while shooting for Vande Mataram, Nazar, and others, he shared, “I actually have many wonderful memories, but one of them is during Vaidya’s first day of shooting. I had to play a character and build a rapport with my co-actor, Puneet Kumar Mishra. Puneet is an NSD alumnus, and to play a character opposite him was an honour, as I always dreamt of being an alumnus at the National School of Drama.

So on the very first day of shooting, we were stuck in our hotel’s balcony, and no one had a clue how to get out of it. Puneet and I utilised the time to know each other, doing lines, talking about characters and our acting journey, and him giving advice and guiding me for my character — the ice was broken. It was a great experience in terms of knowing that acting is not a one-way but a multi-dimensional process.”

It was Shahrukh Khan who inspired Ronit to make a career in acting. He shared, “I wanted to become an actor when I saw Shahrukh Khan on the horse singing Baazigar-0-Baazigar and how he could do everything from loving a woman to avenging his father’s throne to the mother’s only son — that style, the charm, the sigma. It was the best feeling, the best influence that one could ask for. I think that left a deep mark on me.”

Asked about his comfort genre, the newbie says he feels he is good at drama. “I have not set any comforts in any kind of genre because I believe that when you have something at ease, it doesn’t let you grow. But comedy and drama are what I have done till now, and I would love to explore more.”

He added, “I like playing different roles because everything comes from this universe and its formed societies. I think for an actor there shouldn’t be any boundaries and limitations, and therefore I want to try everything that comes on my plate with a tinge of my style to it and at the same time be choosy about it too.”
