British actor Nicholas Galitzine will play He-Man in Amazon Studios’ highly anticipated film Masters of the Universe. Mattel Films will co-produce the movie.
Bumblebee director Travis Knight will direct the film, which will be released in theaters on June 5, 2026.
Masters of the Universe has been a work in progress for more than 20 years. The film was first developed by Warner Bros. and Sony before being sold to Netflix, which dropped it due to financial constraints.
The plot of the film has not yet been revealed. According to an undisclosed narrative from the studio, “Masters of the Universe follows Prince Adam, a.k.a. He-Man is a youngster who falls into Earth in a spaceship and returns decades later to defend his home planet from the evil forces of the villain Skeletor. But in order to overcome the great adversary, he must uncover the mysteries of his past and transform into He-Man, also known as ‘the most powerful man in the universe.’”
