No extension for DGP Mahender

DGP M. Mahender Reddy is not going to get an extension. As per the notification of the Telangana government on the retirement of IPS officers, Mahender Reddy will retire on December 31. Govind Singh of IPS 1990 batch will retire on November 30 and V. Sivakumar of IPS 2004 batch will retire on December 31. Now all eyes are on the next DGP with the buzz in corridors of power seeing competition between CV Anand and Anjani Kumar.

Anjani kumar has DG rank while CV Anand has Additional DG rank. However, after the retirement of Govind Singh, Anand is likely to get DG rank and becomes eligible for the DGP post. The State has to send the list of DG rank officers next month. Sources said that even though there are other officers in the queue, the Telangana government has so far considered only non-locals for top posts except DGP Mahender Reddy. However, in an election year many equations come into play.
