Officials directed to expedite GTS works

Municipal Commissioner Keerthi Chekuri directed the engineering officials to expedite the construction works of Garbage Transfer Station (GTS). She inspected the GTS construction works at Parvatipuram and the drain construction works at LR colony here on Friday.

The commissioner said the GTS is being established in the coconut orchard in Sampath Nagar here. She said that she inspected the drain construction works and appropriate instructions were issued to the officials. The Commissioner said that the establishment of the Garbage Transfer Station would enable efficient management of waste collected in the city in a technical manner.

She ordered the contractor to start the work immediately by marking the construction work of GTS on Friday itself. The construction of GTS is very necessary and engineering officials should monitor it every day to speed up the works.

The road to GTS should also be constructed immediately, she told the officials. She inspected the quality and measurements of the newly constructed CC drains in Parvathipuram and LR canals and instructed the officials to record the works in the Y-Book and a file should be maintained with photos of the work done at every stage.

She warned that action would be taken against the contractor as well as engineering officers and amenity secretaries if any quality defects are found in the works. She also instructed that the tender process should be completed.

The Amenity Secretaries should supervise the completion of the work within the stipulated time, and they should check the rough book, she told them. The departmental secretaries should monitor the work from time to time and provide details about the progress of the work to the engineering officers.

Keerthi Chekuri directed the secretaries of the secretariats to perform their duties with teamwork as directed by the government. Everyone should take joint responsibility to ensure that sanitation works are done properly. She asked them to create awareness about cluster composting and home composting in the apartment. SE Bhaskar, EE Sundarrami Reddy, Kodeswara Rao, and other officials were among those who accompanied her.
