West Godavari District Collector, P Prashanthi, has directed the officials concerned to expedite the process of purchasing paddy from the farmers following the government’s new guidelines.
The Collector held a video conference with the officials on Friday and reviewed the various issues including the procurement of paddy from the farmers, arrangements for Adudam Andhra, land resurvey, mutations, electoral rolls and housing.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector ordered the officials to expedite the process of paddy procurement irrespective of the moisture percentage of the paddy produce. Steps should be taken to ensure that the soaked paddy would not sprout, she told them.
The officials of the agriculture department should visit the agriculture fields and give advice and suggestions to the farmers, she ordered them. The officials should intensify the work to drain out the stagnated water from the agriculture fields, she told them, adding that they should complete the process of purchasing 24,000 metric tonnes of harvested paddy in two or three days.
The paddy being purchased offline should be made online without pending and the disbursement of bills should be transparent, she told the officials. No complaint should be received from the farmers on the purchase of paddy and payment of bills, she said. The applications of mutations should be fully examined and the mutations should be carried out accurately, she said, and knew the details of the mandal-wise mutation progress.
Collector Prashanthi also ordered the officials to expedite issuing notices under the Swamitva 9(2) and coordinate with the officials of various departments. She told the officials to form two teams for men and women in connection with the Adudam Andhra event and complete the audience registration process at the earliest. DRO B Shivannarayan Reddy, Joint Collector S Ramsundar Reddy, RDOs and other officials were present.
