Officials directed to speed up overhead tank works

Municipal Commissioner Keerthi Chekuri directed the officials concerned to expedite the construction works of the reservoir, pipeline, and overhead tank atop Gorantla hill.The Municipal Commissioner on Thursday inspected the ongoing works. The Commissioner also inspected the reservoir pipeline works at Gorantla, Inner Ring Road, and Gaddipadu railway line crossing and issued appropriate instructions to the engineering officials.

The Commissioner inquired the contractor and the engineering officials about the progress of the pipeline work and told them that the reservoir project on Gorantla hill is very important for the city and it is a project that would meet the drinking water needs of lakhs people. Expressing impatience with the contractor over the delay in the priority project works, she instructed the officials to speed up the work by bringing in additional workers immediately.

Keerthi Chekuri said that the works should be carried out by engaging additional works so that the reservoir at the hilltop could be completed in the next two months, and the works of the pipeline to provide drinking water to the TIDCO housing colonies is almost complete.

The Municipal Commissioner told the officers that the Amaravati road crossing and three other interconnections should be completed in two days and the water supply trail run in the pipeline should begin on next Tuesday. She said that the contractor should get the material to complete the pipelines going to the hill and the work should not be stopped under any circumstances. EE Shanti Raju, DEE Hanif, AE Ramu, and other officials were among those who accompanied her.
