Officials preparing list of farmers for crop loan waiver

The government officials have been preparing  the list of farmers who availed themselves of crop loans in banks between December 12, 2018 to December 9, 2023.
The officials have been compiling the data as part of the State government’s plan to waive farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh speedily.  
By December 31 last year, 3,73,157 farmers borrowed a total of Rs 4307.58 crore in Khammam district alone. In Bhadradri Kothagudem district, a total of 185,034 farmers borrowed loans from the banks.
If the complete guidelines are circulated by the government, the real picture would emerge about how many availed how much towards crop loan within the above deadlines.
The BRS regime issued guidelines to waive crop loans of those farmers who had availed crop loans from April 1, 2014 to December 11, 2018. During the period, 3.25 lakh farmers were benefited.. The BRS regime announced crop loan waiver up to Rs 1 lakh in 2018 elections and implemented it in instalments.
