There was a new reality show hosted by JioCinema, Temptation Island India, based on the well-known American reality show, Temptation Island, where couples consent to live with singles while their love is put to the test. The Indian version, Pyaar ki Pariksha (Test of Love), had Mouni Roy and Karan Kundra serving as its hosts. The man behind the aesthetic and gorgeous show’s set, and additionally, the one who annually adds magnificence to the Bigg Boss home, Omung Kumar, discussed how drastically different the settings of the two shows are in an interview with us.
Beginning with, also a film director, Omung shares, “Love and temptation were essentially the show’s concepts. For the programme, there were two distinct looks. There were two sides: a male side and a female side. Therefore, we had to create two distinct bungalows. Men are macho, and that’s how the sets had to be done, and women are the more attractive versions everywhere. As a result, creating the brief was rather easy. Indeed, guys can entice women at the same time. In the male section, it was the exact reverse.”
After searching, his team found two lovely bungalows on the island of Alibaug. And they decided on the white villa, which he could make into a feminine space full of pink hues, fuchsia, pink, lilac, and Bougainvillea. The cottage contained everything girly, just to give them a homey feeling. It was an island, though. As a result, everything looked quite romantic in the evening, including the flying curtains and flowers, as well as the lamps hanging from every tree. On the masculine side, the entire location they selected was a bungalow known as the Charcoal Bungalow. The grey slate is what charcoal is. However, the grey slate features a black zone and a macho aspect. The vibrant pink and maroon pops were constantly present. They had chosen dark colours for those rooms since they were macho.
Furthermore, the fact that they have given each room a name is the best feature of every location they have worked on. Therefore, it’s simpler to find, speak with, and distinguish between each room. For instance, a passion room existed. It followed that you could tell the room apart just by looking at the name and the way the letters were written on the wall. Love, sensuality, and other things existed!
When asked about the difference between Bigg Boss 17 and the Temptation Island India sets, he says, “Every year, Bigg Boss features a new theme that takes place at a studio or home. With its gardens, swimming pool, outdoor space, and beaches, this is a wonderful place. Thus, that appearance is entirely different. It is not similar to anything I have done for Bigg Boss over the years. I also know how to tell this apart because I’ve done Bigg Boss. We’ve printed curtains here for the first time. Since it’s actual sunshine and real stuff, that’s the highlight—something I’ve never done. You don’t get that sunlight or anything in Bigg Boss. Consequently, it has a very distinct appearance and feel throughout the day, and the lighting itself skillfully alters the changes. That meant that they weren’t the same parts as Bigg Boss.”
The pre-launch event, which is analogous to building a floor on a swimming pool, was essentially the challenge rather than the cottage. His team had to build a ramp on a pool, which was difficult because there was water in it. How would it remain? How would it operate? On it, how would the vocalists dance? Therefore, they created a massive water print that floated on the pool and was placed on the ramp itself. The series launch took place there! “And in any case, since the first thing that springs to mind when one thinks of an island and all things lovely is, of course, something unusual, I felt as though I had two distinct love zones, as they say. Perhaps if two people cuddle up in a corner, that area can be designated as their conversation area. Thus, the tiny details that we added to the garden in various locations, such as beneath a massive banyan tree and with tiny lamps hanging from trees, create a lovely night time scene. We added all those various elements to this. However, the problem lies in how to set it apart from other shows,” signs off the production designer.
