Telangana Governor Tamilsai Soundararajan said that now-a-days women are competing equally with men. She addressed a Women’s Day Conference organised at BITS Pilani-Hyderabad campus under the auspices of Rachakonda Commissionerate and Rachakonda Security Council on Wednesday.
The Governor said, “It is considered very lucky to be born as a woman. Men cannot survive without women in their lives as women play multiple roles in a man’s life like mother, sister, wife and friend.”
She said that women have more will power and can achieve anything. Citing her life journey where she put hard work into education and professional growth, entering the public service and reaching the post of Governor, Tamilisai described the support she received from her family and described various discriminations such as colour and height faced by women and how women overcame the obstacles faced in displaying their talent.
The Governor stated that women can work effectively not only as doctors, lawyers and teachers but also as police officers, counselling women victims of domestic violence and marital disputes and female police officers can perform a variety of duties. All women officers were advised to work with their full strength.
Rachakonda Commissioner of police Tarun Joshi said, “Women officers and staff are not less than men.” He said that mother is the first friend and teacher in everyone’s life and through the mother everyone gets introduced to the world and understands society. He said women are more committed than men and can achieve anything.”  DCP Malkajigiri Padmaja, DCP Admin Indira, DCP Women Safety Usha Vishwanath, DCP Maheshwaram, Sunitha Reddy, badminton player Saina Nehwal, and others participated in the event.
