Only six papers in tenth exam

The State government has released a GO for the examination system of Class 9 and 10. It is declared that henceforth the examination of Class 9 and 10 will be conducted with only six papers.The government has implemented the reforms with effect from academic year 2022-23. Eighty marks will be allocated for examination and 20 marks for formative assessment in each subject. A tentative time table has also been released and the examinations will begin from April 3rd and end on 13th April.

The GO said, after careful examination of the matter and in partial modification of orders issued in the references, the Government hereby accord permission to the Director of School Education and the Director of Government Examinations, Telangana, Hyderabad to conduct Class IX (Final) and Class X (SSC Public Examinations) with six papers, instead of 11 papers, duly following the norms.

The norms are under No of Papers: To conduct Summative Assessment-I 8 and II for Class IX students and Summative Assessment I & SSC Public Examination for Class X students with 06 papers with equal weightage to all subjects, i.e. 100 marks for each subject with a ratio of 20:80 for Formative Assessments (04) and Summative Assessment-II/ SSC Public Examination respectively. However, in the case of Science subject, the question paper consists of two parts i.e., Part I Physical Science and Part -II – Biological Science with 40 marks each. Separate question papers and answer scripts should be given for both Physical and Biological Sciences.

Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy said that the government had decided to conduct the Tenth Class exam from April 3. The directors of government examinations were directed to release the complete details of the examination dates. The Minister said that the 10th class board exams will be conducted with only six papers.

The authorities are allocating three hours for each exam. On Wednesday, she reviewed the preparation for Class 10 examination in her office. She said that the examinations would be conducted with 100 per cent syllabus. In the examinations, there will be internal choice only for essay type questions and there will be no choice for short form questions. In this regard, the Minister directed the officials to make the sample question papers available to students immediately.
