Minister for Excise and Mines Kollu Ravindra has asserted that it is the responsibility of the officials to implement the new sand policy efficiently.
Addressing a review meeting on the implementation of the new san policy here on Saturday, which was attended by Minister for Tourism Kandula Dugesh and Collector P Prashanthi, Minister Kollu Ravindra said that 47 lakh metric tonnes of stock was kept ready a the stock point and 71 lakh metric tonnes of sand was kept ready at the de-siltation point to supply sand at free of cost.
He noted that there is a misconception about the free sand policy among people and doubts should be allied, stating that now the constructions have picked up speed with the availability of sand free of cost. At the same time, the livelihood of those who depended on this sector has also been kept in mind, he stated, adding that the government will decide between solving the problem of the Lorry Association. A decision would be taken to benefit If one or two months waited, he clarified.
Minister Kollu Ravindra said that our government aims to provide sand to the users according to the prices decided by the government, asserting that the idea of the Chief Minister of the state is to conduct a comprehensive review of the free transport of sand and the process of reaching the end users.
At present, one lakh metric tons of sand is available in EG district, he informed. Only the cost of transporting sand will have to be paid by the users, he made it clear. The Minister warned of action if the rules at the stock point are violated.
State Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh said that the main objective of the state government is to make sand available to the poor and those who are building houses. He added that the state government has decided to provide sand to the users free of cost and the decision has been taken in the cabinet. District Collector P Prashanthi explained the implementation of the free sand policy in the district and the decisions taken in DLSA. He said that three teams are monitoring the process of registration, loading and vigilance to transport sand efficiently.
